The SUP directive commits member countries to reduce the use of single-use packaging and to develop reusable packaging.
The use of reusable packaging contributes to the reduction of single-use plastics; it also contributes to the reduction of environmental impacts provided that it retains its functionality for a minimum number of reuse cycles.
Check resistance to coloration/discoloration and scratching.
Check negligible absorption of contaminants or (if so) check the chemical decontamination efficiency of the washing process.
Check the cleaning efficiency regarding thermosealant residues, biofilms and food residues.
Check the ageing resistance of the material to the multiple uses and cleaning operations, check the stability of functional properties.
Define the end life criteria and how it will be assessed (number of loops, aspect control, ageing control).
